3 WAYS TO STYLE YOUR DINING ROOM

3 WAYS TO STYLE YOUR DINING ROOM

September 13, 2017

A great part of our lives is spent eating, and dedicated to the pursuit of gastronomical delights. Dining brings people together and a deeper connection is made with family and friends when sitting down after a long day to share stories, culture and history.

Dining is central to the human experience.

The Mediterranean lifestyle in particular focuses on sharing food with those you love, and dining is seen as fundamental to wellbeing and happiness. The strong personal and familial relationships forged through the Mediterranean lifestyle have been linked to longer lifespans.

It's safe to say that creating a harmonious dining room where people can gather is a fundamental consideration when designing a home.

Here are 3 easy ways you can create your own unique dining experience.

 1. ADD A BENCH

Totem Road Luxa Bench

The closeness of sharing space on a bench creates intimacy. If you’re the type of person that loves to host dinner parties, then a bench is a great piece to add to your dining room as it will give you the flexibility for fitting in more people around a table as well as create a sense of conviviality.

“ 0n a bench everybody’s equal, a 50 year old can find themselves
asking and 8 year old for permission to get out… it’s democratic.. ” Ilse Crawford

2. CHOOSE INTERESTING CHAIRS & STOOLS

The choice of chairs is an important element when styling your dining room. A classic table can be modernised with a juxtaposition of graphic chairs. Chairs by nature are individual and autonomous so this will immediately add a sense of formality and elegance to a dining room.

If your home is an open plan create a dining space with the use of rugs. Delineating the dining area with a textured rug is great way to create sense of place. A hemp or natural fibre rug combined with oak stools can create a cosy environment whilst still maintaining a sense of spaciousness and a de-cluttered aesthetic.

Don’t be afraid to mismatch! Combining chairs with stools and benches can add character and individuality to a dining room.

3. CUSTOMISE DETAIL

Make a statement with customised finishes and add a touch of colour to your furniture. Luxa table legs can be customised in an array of colours. We love the drama of black legs contrasted with white oak.
