WHAT EXCITING PROJECTS ARE YOU WORKING ON AT THE MOMENT?
I’m currently renovating my home as an owner builder. It’s exciting and daunting at the same time! It’s a mid century house overlooking the water in Dolans Bay, it’s our dream home and it’s been quite a big job to get every detail right. We moved in last week so it’s exciting to be finally living here, however there is still lots to do until it’s complete.
I’m also working on more content for my online styling school The Stylist Lab. I have new courses and workshops coming up in the second half of the year I’m looking forward to releasing soon.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR OWN PERSONAL STYLE WHEN DECORATING YOUR HOME?
I’d describe my style as curated, collected and calm. My home is a reflection of what my family and I love and how we like to live. Over the years, my husband and I enjoy collecting art and occasional vintage furniture pieces, so our home is a mix of old and new.
I love to decorate with a neutral colour palette of warm earthy tones, I find it grounding and an easy palette to style with. I like our home to feel relaxed, sophisticated and uniquely our own, not influenced by trends or genres.
WHAT ARE YOUR SECRETS FOR FEELING CONFIDENT IN YOUR DESIGN DECISIONS?
Research, planning and moodboards! Once you have narrowed down the vision for your home with a moodboard of inspiration images, research how you can achieve it and talk to tradespeople or experts on the best way to achieve it. Then allow enough time to make the magic happen.

DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS FOR CREATING A TIMELESS INTERIORS THAT IS DESIGNED TO LAST?
Find furniture and homewares pieces that you have a connection with and that are not just a current trend that you may tire of in a year or two. Some of the furniture pieces in our home we have owned for over 10 years. We still adore these pieces and use them daily.
I'd also suggest investing in quality pieces that are built sustainably. Cheap fast fashion furniture can be tempting but if it doesn’t serve you in years to come then you are contributing to our global landfill problem. By investing in quality pieces, these will essentially become timeless and you’ll love them for a lifetime.
WHAT SHOULD PEOPLE DO BEFORE THEY GO SHOPPING FOR A NEW INVESTMENT FURNITURE PIECE?
Research if your new purchase is a sustainable choice and consider if you will still love it in 10 years time? Ask questions about how it has been made, the materials used, durability of any fabrics and any maintenance required.
It’s also a good idea to check the dimensions of the piece and set out with masking tape on the floor where you intend to put it in the room to ensure it fits well within the space. There is nothing worse than buying furniture only for it to feel awkward and out of proportion.
To support our talented design industry, seek out original design, not a replica. It will feel far more special to have the real deal than a knock off piece.
WHICH TOTEM ROAD PIECES DO YOU LOVE AND HOW WOULD YOU STYLE THEM?
I love the Lagos Bed for its sophisticated minimalist design and soft curved edges. I’d style this bed with some beautiful linen in a soft sage green colour and have the Harper bedside tables either side with a handmade ceramic vase filled with fresh tetragona gums.
WHAT’S FUELING YOUR CREATIVITY AT THE MOMENT?
I’m very fortunate that my new home has a gorgeous view of the water, it overlooks a bay of resting boats. After two years living out of boxes and moving house a few times, it’s motivating to finally feel grounded in our new home and inspired by the possibilities of our new life here.
