INTRODUCING THE ARMADILLO & CO EARTH AND LATITUDE COLLECTION
We’re delighted to be introducing the latest Earth and Latitude collection by much loved Australian sustainable rug company, Armadillo & Co to our Paddington flagship store this July. Inspired by aerial photography of the natural environment, the rugs have an underlying character and saturation in hue previously unseen in their ranges.
The Founders of Armadillo & Co, Jodie and Sally met in 2007, and were inspired to create elegant, simple and quality rugs which they couldn’t find for their own homes. What they couldn’t find, they decided to make, founding Armadillo & Co to fill this niche. Their vision for establishing a company committed to ethical production gained momentum after seeing an opportunity in the market for simple, handmade, quality rugs.
Their goal is to sustain and elevate age old methods through a contemporary design process, using Fair Trade practices with natural and sustainable fibres which are used to craft a 100% handmade collection of quality rugs. Just like the Totem Road collection of sustainable furniture, Armadillo & Co rugs are imprinted with a deep respect for the environment and are designed to tread lightly on the planet.
Armadillo & Co rugs are the work of artisans whose intricate weaving traditions are passed down through generations, which is why the preservation of these age old skills and the income they bring to these communities is vital.
More than ten pairs of hands are required to create and finish each rug, with every purchase enhancing the lives of their weavers and the communities they live in. Each rug is nurtured on its journey from fibre to finished product by the skilled hands of their dyers, weavers and finishers. Resulting in each rug being imbued with a unique character for you to enjoy in your home.
Now more than ever our homes have become a sanctuary for ourselves and our loved ones. A place where we can find a sense of calm and serenity.
One of our favourite ways to curate a space that inspires relaxation is by bringing elements of the outdoors inside. From a natural colour palette to indoor greenery, we’ve compiled some simple yet effective ways to design a space that feels uplifting, inspiring and that brings you home to nature.
