We sat down with Interior Stylist, Coco Tully to chat about her secret to creating a home that reflects authenticity and inspiration. Coco is a master when it comes to embracing her client's individuality and creating a sense of ease, balance and joy. You strive to transform spaces to celebrate the uniqueness of each individual. What is the secret to creating a space that is authentic to your lifestyle?
Your space is a reflection of who you are and the life you want to live. The key is to style your space with pieces that make you feel good. Select elements that reflect what you love and believe in. If you love supporting local businesses, fill your home with handcrafted pieces from your community. If you’re all about sustainable living, apply that principle to the items you buy for your home too. The aim, above all else, is to create a space that makes your life easier, happier, and more beautiful.
Allowing beauty and purpose to co-exist underpins your approach to styling. How can we balance these two elements in our own home?
The most crucial element in a well-designed home is the balance between form and function. There is no point in having the most beautiful chair in the world if it is terribly uncomfortable and poorly made. To bring balance into your own space, select items that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional. I find that tailored storage is particularly important, as it allows you to have a place for everything and creates a clean backdrop for the items you truly love.
How can we learn to find beauty in the process of curating our interiors?
Interiors are meant to be ever-evolving spaces that change as you do. Take your time with the process. Collect items as you move through your life. Find the pieces that speak to you, reflect your experiences and tell stories. This allows you to enjoy curating your space, as well as imbue it with personal meaning and memories.
What is your approach to creating a balanced and bespoke space that is unique to your client?
For me, it's all about truly getting to know my clients, their story and how they aspire to live. It isn’t just about the aesthetic they’re after or their budget. I want to know about their lifestyle both inside and outside of their home. I often ask clients to describe their ideal day - how do they want to wake up in the morning? who do they want to spend time with? how do they want to feel at the end of the day? This knowledge helps me to tailor their home in a way that supports all aspects of their lives.
Which Totem Road piece are you loving at the moment?
I absolutely adore the solid-oak Luxa Round Dining Table. I love the juxtaposition of simple lines against the elegant round top. It is beautiful, well-balanced and an incredibly practical piece for any home.
What do you love about styling sustainable furniture?

What are you most excited about in 2019?
I have kicked off the second half of 2019 with a move into a fab new studio in Mosman which has me very excited! It is warm, inviting and chic - the perfect space to be creative and productive.
I also have the most wonderful clients and projects on at the moment that will be completed in the next few months! I love seeing our vision and hard work come together to give them a space that truly reflects who they are and one they can enjoy every day. I cannot wait to share more of those soon!
